Prof. Abiodun Salawu to Deliver Keynote Address at 3rd Namibia Media and Communication Conference

Professor Abiodun Salawu, Director of the Indigenous Language Media in Africa (ILMA) Research Focus Area, is set to deliver the keynote address at the 3rd Namibia Media and Communication Conference (NCMC), scheduled for September 21–22, 2026, in Windhoek, Namibia.

Prof. Salawu will speak on the theme “Media and Communication: Current Trends, State of the Art and the Imperatives.” His keynote will explore the rapidly changing landscape of media and communication, with particular attention to emerging trends, innovations, evidence-based insights, and the strategic imperatives facing researchers, practitioners, educators and policymakers.

The conference brings together scholars, media practitioners, students and other stakeholders from across Africa and beyond to engage in dialogue on the evolving role of media and communication in contemporary society.

Prof. Salawu’s keynote will highlight emerging trends reshaping media and communication, innovations and best practices, and the imperatives of relevance, responsibility and impact. The address will also consider the future of media, storytelling and society in an increasingly interconnected world.

As Director of the ILMA Research Focus Area, Prof. Salawu’s participation adds an important scholarly perspective to discussions around media, communication and the place of indigenous languages in Africa’s changing media environment.
